The 1970s saw the opening of a bakery giant in the heart of the community and the pace of change accelerator even further thanks to the opening of the Stanningley Bypass which cut through LS13 aimed at easing traffic congestion in west Leeds. The decade also featured a visit from a celebrity filming a television series in Bramley. These photos, plucked from the YEP archive, rewind the clock to showcase life in the suburb and feature street scenes and local landmarks as well as stories making the news at the time. November 1973 and heavy gales caused chaos in Bramley and beyond. The complete roof, covering a block of eight garages, was ripped off and soared through the air on Bell Road.
