Briggate has played a part in the life of Leeds residents for generations. These photos capture a snapshot of life during the 1930s and feature a range of shops and landmarks many of which continue to play a big part in the city's rich history and heritage. 7. Briggate in the 1930s
This photo shows part of Marks and Spencer Ltd in February 1930, who were listed at 76 Briggate. Thenis Bridges, drapers with sign: 'Bridges sale of the £6,000 stock of C.Coleing and sons Ltd, Hampstead Road.
