They may have fallen by the wayside but for many will always evoke happy times of a misspent youth or a sense of community and belonging. 43. Lord Cardigan

47. The Garden Gate
The Garden Gate pub on Whitfield Place was was upgraded to Grade II listed building status by English Heritage in 2010. Its curved ceramic bar counter, one of only 14 surviving nationally, was given as one of the main reasons for the upgrade. It closed in February 2023 but was due to reopen this month.
