No.204 Woodhouse Street is a newsagents and grocers shop run by G. & W. Moss. The White Rose Inn is no.202 selling Melbourne Brewery Beers. White Rose Yard was not immediately behind the public house, it was a short distance away across Woodhouse Cliff, to the end of Delph Street. Delph Lane is on the right. Woodhouse Street in September 1959. Delph Lane is on the left, Woodhouse Cliff can also be glimpsed. At the corner with Woodhouse Street on the left is a double fronted shop, numbers 198/200. This is the business of Arthur Naylor, selling beer, wines and spirits, and groceries. Two men are outside the shop. One, with a ladder and wearing white overalls was probably a decorator. There is another ladder to the right side of the shop, with a paint pot over the window. Moving right, numbers 192 to 196, three shop units are one concern. The name Jones is above the shop and carpets and curtains are for sale. At the right end of the block, number 190 is occupied by W. Lake, trading in furniture. This is the corner with Peel Court. Delph Lane is on the left. Cottages which were part of Woodhouse Cliff are in the middle of the view. No.34 is on the left, moving right are 35, 36 & 37. Peel Court was on the right.
