The cost of refurbishment at Leeds City Varieties Music Hall was put at more than £300,000. The city's oldest working theatre needed 560 seats replacing, dressing rooms upgraded as well as electrical rewiring and major roof repairs to prevent damp. This was 1991, a year which featured a visit to the city by Diana, Princess of Wales and Leeds United heading into the recording studio.
