This street sign - which should have read Gipsy Lane - became somewhat of an attraction for eagle-eyed Beeston householders in 2000 and left red-faced council chiefs somewhat embarrassed. It was also a year in which education, both in and out of the classroom, was a common theme for youngsters in LS11. Work began on a new millennium garden for pupils at Hillside Primary while a new independent school opened in the community based inside a house. Elsewhere a beacon of hope was lighting the way for the dawn of the new millennium. This was Beeston in the year 2000. Do you recognise anyone?
