It will be the Northern Belle's first outing since being shunted off into a siding by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Pitts, who lives in Thurstonland, near Huddersfield, said: “We’re chuffed to be back on track - especially with the train coming to Yorkshire. Obviously Covid-19 means some things will be a little different because the safety of passengers and crew is paramount."

“So we have introduced social distancing measures and passengers will be encouraged to wear safety masks when moving around the train.

“But it’s all signals go now and we are confident none of this will detract from an unforgettable day out aboard one of the world’s most luxurious trains.”

Passengers are expected to dress smartly though for the slap-up champagne day-out, which starts with a three-course brunch on the outward journey. For jeans and trainers will be frowned upon as they sit down to tuck into a three-course brunch board the luxury train. Then after five hours in the Scottish capital, they will return to a champagne reception on the train followed by a five-course dinner on the way home.

Mr Pitts said: “The Northern Belle will not only take passengers to Edinburgh. It will also transport them back to the great days of railway travel when nothing was too good for pampered passengers.”

The Northern Belle will leave Wakefield at 9am and York at 9.40am. It is scheduled to arrive back in York at 10pm and Wakefield at 10.50pm.

The fare is £315. For more details visit: www.northernbelle.co.uk or phone 01270 899681.
