7. Roads closed
Police closed roads and 40 security guards patrolled a 350m exclusion zone during the demolition.
8. History
The 2-Gigawatt coal fired power plant was built for and initially operated by the Central Electricity Generating Board and commenced generating electricity in 1967
9. Site
The site bought by St Francis Group in 2019, for regeneration and development of the area
10. Dusty
Immediately after the towers came down, cleaning crews were deployed to clean adjacent roads of the dust resulting from the demolition.
11. What next?
The remainder of the site will be demolished over the next 18 months
12. Landmark gone
