7. From Russia with love
Woodhouse Moor was once home to cannons hauled from Russia to Leeds after the Battle of Sevastapol. They disappeared from the Moor after being melted down as part of the war effort in the 1940s.
8. Jimi Hendrix
A converted synagogue in Chapel Allerton was the proud host of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix in 1967. The poorly attended gig at the International Club won't go down as Hendrix's finest, the next one in Ilkley proved a hit.
9. I spy

10. Buffalo Bill and his Leeds pub run-in
William F Cody, better known as Buffalo Bill, visited Leeds in 1892 and again in 1903. Legend has it that when he visited the three legs pub he was set upon and beaten up by fellow drinkers. Photo: Getty
11. The rats of Quarry Hill flats
Rumour has it that when the Quarry Hill flats were knocked down, a huge rat and thousands behind it swarmed from under the building and ran into Leeds, terrifying passers by along the way.
