Tributes paid to 'biggest angel' Leeds mum-of-two as family back cancer full body scan campaign

Emma Hoult was diagnosed with terminal cancer in June and given just weeks to live after treatment to prolong her life was unsuccessful.

She died on Tuesday September 15, aged 35, with her family by her side.

Emma was first diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in June 2017 and was given the 'all clear' a year later following treatment.

Her family have backed a campaign to give cancer patients a full body scan before they are given the 'all clear' or 'no evidence of active disease' verdict.

They believe the secondary cancer could have been spotted sooner if Emma was given a full body scan along with the regular mammograms that she received.

Under current NHS practice, not all cancer patients receive full body scans before an 'all clear' verdict due to funding restrictions and the potentially harmful effects of the scans.

Emma, who lived in Morley, leaves behind her husband, Tony, and two sons - Harry, eight, and four-year-old Jack.

A JustGiving campaign raising money for Emma's sons has now raised more than £9,000, surpassing an original target of £1,000.

Emma's close friend, Bryony Kidger, will take on a six-mile walk at the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail in November along with Emma's family, hoping to give Tony, Harry and Jack more special memories together.

Bryony, 24, said: "Emma spent her last moments with her loved ones by her side.

"We’ve lost an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend - and heaven has gained the biggest angel.

"Emma touched so many hearts with her strength and kindness and will be remembered for those qualities.

"Her spirit and memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.

"We are so grateful for everyone’s kind words and generous donations to Emma’s fundraiser, it has been humbling to see."
