For many patients, the GP surgery is the first place they turn when they are unwell.
Often described as the “front door” of the NHS, GP practices provide diagnosis, treatment and referrals to specialist care – meaning the experience patients have can make a big difference.
The latest GP Patient Survey, carried out by Ipsos on behalf of NHS England, asked patients across Leeds to rate their experience of their local surgery.
More than 650,000 patients across England took part in the 2026 survey, which was carried out between January and April.
It gathers information on how patients feel about their local GP, including whether their needs were met and the performance of reception teams.
Nationally, 46% of patients described their overall experience of their GP practice as ‘very good’, while a further 31% said it was ‘fairly good’.
