Oxygen has long been used to promoted health and wellbeing, both in a medical setting and more recently on the High Street, as a non-invasive, non-medical wellbeing aid.

Oxify, which has a branch in Leeds, has gained a huge following from people who feel it helps them in many ways. In fact, Sarah’s business was even featured on Chris Kamara’s documentary in December, finding a new TV audience for what she has to offer.

Customers spend time in a special hyperbaric chamber, breathing in almost pure oxygen at a higher pressure. This is known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). It takes place in a bright and spacious chamber, and you remain fully clothed throughout, which helps allay any discomfort or nerves.

Many people believe it helps with things like stress, headaches, energy levels or long Covid, while a recent survey looked into anti-ageing benefits.

Oxygen enriched blood is believed to stimulate and aid cells and organs and enhances the body’s ability to heal.

Is it painful?

Not at all. You will probably find it really relaxing, and you are welcome to sit or lie down throughout your session. Some people like to read a book or listen to music, have calming ‘white noise’ on in the background or even catch a TV show.

Are there any side effects?

Most people feel completely fine, but as with a massage or other complementary therapy, you may feel a little light headed after, so it’s worth taking a moment or two to sip a glass of water before going about your day as normal.

How many sessions would I need?

There’s no obligation to block book sessions, many people want to try one and see how they get on. However, if you do want regular top ups Sarah often has offers on.

Is there an offer for February?

Yes! At both the Leeds and the Manchester branch, you can enjoy 25 per cent off a DUO session. Just mention the Yorkshire Post offer when booking.
