Total of 65 new Covid deaths in Yorkshire hospitals

A total of 65 new Covid deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire hospitals in an update released on Thursday - amid the government announcements of further tier restrictions.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

The highest increase was recorded by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, with 12 new deaths at each location.

The death toll in the county from the virus has now risen to 4,613.

The deaths were recorded by the following trusts:

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 4

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 12

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 5

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust: 10

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust: 12

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 2

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 4

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 3

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 4

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 8
