Three further patients have died at Leeds hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total to eight.

Dr Yvette Oade, Chief Medical Officer at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said today (Saturday, March 28): “We can confirm that, sadly, three patients, who had tested positive for COVID-19, and were in our care, have died.

"The patients included two females and one male and were in their 70s and 90s.

"They all had underlying health conditions.

"Their families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.

"We would ask the media to respect the privacy of the families, and the interests of staff at the hospital, to avoid any disruption to operational services.”

There are 80 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Leeds, as of Friday, March 27.
