The Prime Minister told MPs the approach was “cautious but also irreversible”, with the impact of the vaccination programme replacing the need for lockdown measures.

The Prime Minister acknowledged that scientific modelling suggested that lifting lockdown measures would increase Covid-19 cases and ultimately deaths but insisted the restrictions could not continue indefinitely.

While Amy Elizabeth added: "Can you imagine the queues for a hair cut and a pint in the garden - I'd rather let my hair grow, I can get away it and drink at home, so much cheaper."

Brian Silverwood agreed, adding: "Can sit outside now and have a beer anytime I want, and the prices are cheap."

Dixon Ken Jay said: "I don't drink I do my own haircut - just need a hol."

And Darren Hubbard said: "Looking forward to a remembrance party for my late wife and also a night out with my mates."

Kris Long joked: "Rejoice at sitting outside, in April, in the U.K..."

While pub landlady Anna Crispin said: "It's ridiculous really, I can go to the hairdressers and sit inside for three hours, go get my nails done, another hour, might as well have a facial as well, another hour, all inside, yet a customer can't sit in my pub for a meal and a pint!!"

Liam McNally was sceptical, saying: "This government can't plan for next week, never mind three to four months' time. Boris said it would be over for Christmas in September - nobody can plan for anything in a pandemic."

Donna Callaghan agreed, adding: "I'll believe it when I see it. Cases will rise again and we will be back in lockdown forever."
