Government ministers are considering whether to place more areas of England under the toughest coronavirus restrictions in an effort to contain the spread of a new variant of Covid-19. In Leeds, the rate of Covid infections has remained steady over the past few weeks, with the average infection rate currently standing at around 143 new cases per 100,000 people. But there have been large increases in some part of Leeds. Here are 17 areas of the city where the infection rate has risen in the seven days to December 17, the latest available figures.
