It's a rise of 15 active cases from the previous week.

The latest figures show that 69 people at the university tested positive for the virus between Monday November 9 and Sunday November 15.

Two other people who work at the university, thought to be contractors, also tested positive for coronavirus.

The university was later informed of an additional 12 cases during this period and two cases were later proven to be false, bringing last week's total to 73.

It brings the total number of coronavirus cases confirmed since the start of term to 1,446.

The university, which is home to 38,000-plus students and 9,200-plus staff, now publishes the figures weekly

It comes after Leeds MPs sent a letter to the university calling on the institution to be more transparent when it comes to the risk posed by coronavirus to its staff and students, while also calling for an end to face-to-face teaching wherever possible.

There were 640 new cases of the virus recorded in the first week of term, but the number of new infections has dropped significantly in recent weeks.
