More than 250 patients who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been discharged from Leeds hospitals, it has been announced.

As of Monday (April 20), there have been 930 cases of coronavirus in Leeds.

A total of 126 people have died in hospitals in the city, according to latest figures.

However, Leeds Teaching Hospitals announced on Monday that more than 250 patients who had recovered from coronavirus have been discharged from Leeds hospitals.

In a Tweet posted on Monday, Leeds Teaching Hospitals said: "We are delighted that, as of today, over 250 patients who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 have been discharged from our hospitals.

"Thanks to the care and dedication of our teams, these patients are now back with their loved ones to continue their recovery at home.

"#TheLeedsWay"

The news was well received on social media, as many thanked the hospital staff for their tireless efforts.

One said: "We need more positive news like this! Well done guys! You should be so proud of yourselves."

Another added: "This is excellent news, thank you so much for all your hard work!"
