Leeds Rhinos make Headingley Stadium available to emergency workers

Leeds Rhinos are allowing emergency workers battling coronavirus to use the facilities at Headingley Stadium.

It comes after the club announced that nearly all of its staff and players will be furloughed as part of the government’s coronavirus job retention scheme.

It also means the ticket office and telephone lines will be unavailable for the time being.

But the club is throwing its weight behind the effort to fight Covid-19 in Leeds, saying it will make Emerald Headingley Stadium "available to the emergency front line services that are dealing with the current situation in our city".

The club said in a press release: "The Headingley Lodge has been made available for front line workers who may need to isolate themselves from family who are showing symptoms plus the stadium has been made available for any other needs the local authorities may require.

"We would like to thank all our members, supporters and sponsors for their continued support during this difficult time.

"We are aware that at present times are tough but we are confident we can call come through this together and we will soon be back cheering on our men and women on the field again."

Fans can still buy goods on the Leeds Rhinos Retail online store, with next day delivery available on all orders.
