Leeds residents have their say on "second national lockdown"

Nationally, there is an expectation that further restrictions could be put in place as rates continue to rise.

In Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon has just closed pubs and all eyes are on Boris Johnson's government as to what may happen next - even while Leeds remains in its own local lockdown.

The Yorkshire Evening Post asked readers: "How do you feel about the prospect of a second lockdown?"

They shared their thoughts on Facebook.

Melanie Broadley said: "Sooooooo difficult . Personally do it to keep people safe but that's easy for me to say, I work for NHS therefore not worried about my business."

Anne Webster said: "Needs must to get this deadly virus under control."

Shoeb Khan said: "I think they should do lockdown for 4 weeks only if they are capable to do mass testing specially highly affected areas."

AimeéLeigh Brannanx said: "It’s already getting to the point now that people are not listening.

"Another lockdown comes in place and people won’t listen, still thinking they’re superior and it won’t affect them."

Colin Mcgann said: "Let’s get rid of this virus what ever it takes."

Andrew Lawson said: "I hope people take a stand and ignore them. This has gone on too long - lockdowns do more harm than good and are not even proven to serve their intention at all."

Jo Heywood said: "Not good this time I won't survive. My pub will close and potentially not open. My dream will end."

Dawn Coleman said: "No don’t want another lock down, this virus isn’t going at all, there’s so many vulnerable people out there, plus my son or any other kids have just gone back to school, it’s ridiculous."

Andrew James Wilson said: "What's the point? First one didn't do anything. Personally I think the fit and healthy should be out there as usual and the vulnerable should isolate."

Matthew Marshall said: "A second lockdown will destroy the hospitality industry more than it already is! Not to mention everyone's mental health will deteriorate."
