But what do the changes mean for Leeds and how do they affect Leeds residents?

What's changed under Tier 3 rules for Leeds?

- Tier 3 restrictions mean that pubs, bars, casinos and adult gaming centres must be immediately shut - on top of all the Tier 2 rules remaining in place.

- The exception is that restaurants, and pubs serving 'predominantly food' can remain open.

- Household mixing remains banned and mixing in private gardens is also banned as well

- Only some public spaces such as parks and beaches allow household mixing, and then the rule of six must still be followed as well as social distancing

-> These are the exceptions to new Tier 2 and Tier 3 household mixing ban - Police are able to fine people breaking lockdown Tier 2 restrictions up to £10,000 for a large breach

- All the previous rules still apply. So there is a 10pm curfew, the rule of 6, face masks in shops, and social distancing still in effect.

- Household mixing remains banned and mixing in private gardens is also now banned as well

In full, the rules are:

Leeds Council leader Judith Blake said: "Tier 3 is for a period of 28 days and then the situation will be reviewed.

"What no one can tell us at this moment in time is exactly what the criteria are for coming out of Tier 3.

“This is something all the areas are pressing the button on for clarification. We are continuing to work with government, we want thar clarity and we have to all work together to reduce the rate of infection. That is the position we are in.”
