Leeds news LIVE: 325,000 Leeds residents have now received Covid vaccine

According to the CEO of Leeds Council, Tom Riordan, 325,000 Leeds residents have now had the Covid vaccine.

He tweeted the news yesterday afternoon along with his daily Covid rates tweet.

The latest recorded daily infection rate in Leeds is 99.1 cases per 100,000 people - which was also recorded on Tuesday.

This is down from 99.7 cases per 100,000 people on Wednesday.

Mr Riordan also said that the rate in over 60s was ‘down’ to 36.6 cases per 100,000 people.

The positivity rate has fallen from 4.2 per cent to 4.1 per cent.

The CEO pleaded with Leeds residents to ‘stay in unless essential, keep distance and take the vaccine’ as this is ‘reducing hospitalisations and deaths.

Recent figures showed that nearly a third of care home staff in Leeds not vaccinated against coronavirus.
