Leader of Leeds Council, Judith Blake, said that Leeds could have "safely" moved down to Tier 2 but to remain in the Very High alert over Christmas is "disappointing." Most areas of the country have remained in their current tiers or moved up a level. Just two areas - Bristol and North Somerset and Herefordshire - were moved down into lower tiers. The case rate in Leeds is currently around 136 cases per 100,000 people. All the areas of Leeds below have had fewer than nine cases of Covid within the last week.

Four new cases were recorded in Leeds City Centre in the seven days to December 12. It's a rate of 58.8 new cases per 100,000 people, down 71.4 per cent from the previous week.
10. Bramley Fall
Four new cases were recorded in Leeds City Centre in the seven days to December 12. It's a rate of 63.8 new cases per 100,000 people, down 42.9 per cent from the previous week.
11. Horsforth South and Rawdon
Seven new cases were recorded in Leeds City Centre in the seven days to December 12. It's a rate of 84.1 new cases per 100,000 people, down 41.7 per cent from the previous week.
12. Rodley and Stanningley Park
