Joint highest daily Covid death toll increase since June in Yorkshire

A total of 18 further coronavirus deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire - the joint highest daily increase since June.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

Other than a daily update released on October 15, the increase of 18 deaths is the highest for the region since June 16.

The largest number of new coronavirus deaths were recorded by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where eight more patients have sadly died.

Two deaths were recorded at each of Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

A single death was also recorded at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The death toll in Yorkshire now stands at 3,138.
