Eight people die from coronavirus in Leeds in same day

The deaths were included within 14 further coronavirus deaths in Leeds hospitals in the past five days.

The increase in the death toll by 14 in a single daily update is the highest since May 2 at the height of the pandemic.

A total of 27 new deaths were recorded across Yorkshire in new figures published on Thursday (Oct 22).

The deaths were recorded by the following trusts:

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust: 14

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 2

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 2

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

The death toll in the region now stands at 3,165.
