Coronavirus Leeds: Almost 60 pupils self-isolating due to Covid-19 case at The Morley Academy

The Morley Academy has confirmed that one student in KS4 has tested positive for Covid-19.

Following guidance from Public Health England, the school has asked 57 of its pupils to self-isolate for 14 days.

Four members of staff have also tested positive for Covid-19 since the school reopened in September.

The staff members are administrative or support staff who have limited contact with students.

The Morley Academy principal Adam Ryder said: "I can confirm that we have had four members of staff test positive for Covid-19 since the start of September, all of which are administrative or support staff with little-to-no contact with students.

"We have also had one student in KS4 test positive for Covid-19, and following consultations and guidance from Public Health England, we have asked 57 of our pupils to self-isolate for 14 days.

"We will continue to support our isolating students with high-quality online learning delivered by our own professionals.

"Their general health and wellbeing will be closely monitored by our pastoral team during this time, with further support offered to families and students if required."
