T-Levels in Yorkshire: Courses in digital production and engineering – open evening announced
It’s a college that’s not just there to deliver excellent exam results, and courses suited for optimum results for students – it’s also delivering on the skillsets local and national employers are looking for, as it prepares up-and-coming talent for their future.
UTC Leeds, which is part of the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust, offers a unique combination of academic and technical qualifications, equipping students for professional careers through places at top universities, as well as through higher and advanced apprenticeships.
This includes the new T-Level Qualifications in digital production and engineering, which include both academic subjects and work placements, and top quality guest speakers through the year to developer the students’ experience and horizons. T-Levels courses bridge the gap between traditional academic paths and the ever-evolving demands of the job market. By offering specialized and up-to-date training, T-Levels prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
The college has developed is curriculum with global and regional employers as well as the University of Leeds. The learning experience includes a broad range of activities with industry professionals and academic experts.
UTC Leeds is supported by over 70 employers, including major industry brands such as RAF and Siemens.

This year they had their best ever GCSE results with students making excellent progress in Maths, and going on to exciting next destinations including Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield University, Computer Science at Leeds University, Live Events Production at The Academy of Live Technology and even Yacht Design and Production at Southampton University. Many of our students have also secured Degree Apprenticeships in subjects such as Civil Engineering, Rail Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Software.
A Level and Engineering Technical Awards results were also excellent this year, says Hannah Wilson, reflecting the hard work and determination of students.
And, 11 per cent of this years’ cohort of students have gone on to study prestigious degree apprenticeships, with many exceeding their target grades in exams.
Leading the way
UTC is a key provider of technical education in the Leeds City Region, and developed an industry standard T-Level route. It was awarded £478,000 of funding in 2021 to develop three bespoke Digital T-Level Labs, and £150,000 for extra equipment.
In 2022 it bid successfully for £586,000 to redevelop its engineering spaces, and £240,000 for engineering bids.
This year, UTC Leeds will be bidding for funding for its science labs, to continue its drive to have the best learning environment in the genre.
