They are from schools within The GORSE Academies Trust and have been invited to take part in a training camp over half term for GB Rowing World Class Start.

It is a specialist talent identification programme that trains and develop athletes for the GB Rowing Team. The camp is also for athletes who show the potential to become Olympic athletes but are young in their rowing journey.

Cheryl Rhodes, Partnership Director of Sport, Physical Education and Health at The GORSE Academies Trust, said: “We are really thrilled that so many of our students have been selected for this programme. Rowing is a sport that rewards hard work, discipline and team work - all of which are attributes we value in our students - and there is no question that all our rowers, including those chosen for this squad, have those qualities in abundance.”

Graduates of World Class Start include Helen Glover and Heather Stanning, who went on to win Olympic gold medals.
