Pictures as students from Leeds schools become police for the day and secure mock knife crime scene at arena

Students from four Leeds schools will become CSI experts for the day as part of a week of programmes at the arena.

The Junior Detectives programme is being held by West Yorkshire Police this week at the First Direct Bank Arena and will see 16 students secure a mock knife crime scene.

Students from Corpus Christi Catholic College, Roundhay School, Ralph Thoresby School and Leeds West Academy taking part, with the first of the events being held on Tuesday (December 9).

The programme is focussed on themes of misogyny and violence against women and girls. The mock incident was a scenario following a knife attack in which a member of the public was recovering in hospital from life threatening injuries.

The youngsters were asked with interviewing witnesses, taking statements, securing the crime scene and looking for the discarded weapon.

Our photographer captured the pictures in the below gallery of the crime fighting youngsters.
