This brand-new school offers modern state-of-the-art facilities, and this is a great opportunity to find out more, meet the friendly staff and headteacher, try out some exciting subject activities, ask lots of questions – and try the food!

The school, at Harrogate Road, Rawdon, Leeds, prides itself on creating a climate for great learning, success and opportunity, and is committed to giving each student the tools to achieve their very best.

“We have high aspirations for each and every one of our students, who are part of a collaborative community of learners who are driven to succeed by our inspiring staff,” said Executive Headteacher, Delia Martin

The school, which reopened in a brand new building in 2021, is rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, and includes a Sixth Form, offering education from 11 to 18.

What the school offers:

First-class modern facilities throughout

There has been a school on this site since the 1800s. The original Benton Park School was built in the grounds of old Benton Park house. The school was established by Joseph Riley in 1838 and by 1851 he had 33 boys in residence.

Building a completely new school in 2019 means it offers modern facilities, with centuries of tradition.

High-quality teaching and learning, underpinned by high aspirations

“We have incredibly high standards and expectations for our young people and in return we offer a nurturing, supportive and challenging environment in which they can thrive and develop their learning both within the classroom and beyond,” says Headteacher, Mr Nik Skilton.

A supportive and inclusive learning environment

After the Ofsted inspection in 2019 the report noted “Students spoke positively about their experience at the school and reported that students show respect and tolerance towards each other."

A broad and ambitions curriculum for well-rounded student development

As well as the core curriculum including English, Maths, Science, Religious Studies, PE and PSHCE students at Key Stage 4 can chose from a wide range of GCSE and BTEC options including photography, Health and Social Care, Digital Information Technology, Sports Science, Business Studies, Media Studies as well as History, languages, Computer Science, Maths and statistics and many more. The school is proud to be a truly inclusive school offering strong bespoke support and guidance to meet the needs of all our learners.

Friendly, collaborative community atmosphere among students and staff

“We are rightly proud of the strong culture of pastoral support and guidance that we offer to ensure our students feel safe, valued and happy. This is the key to ensuring they enjoy their time with us, and are able to thrive and succeed in our engaging and purposeful learning environment,” said Mr Skilton .

Wide and varied range of extra -curricular and enrichment opportunities

Students are given lots of opportunities to be involved in many exciting extra-curricular activities with outside partners and organisations. Whether they choose to compete in the sport of their choice, at the highest possible level, play in the Soul Band or attend STEM Club for Science there is a wealth of opportunities for every student. The brand new Drama Studio provides an excellent backdrop for students who want to get involved in Performing Arts.

Many students take part in The Duke of Edinburgh Awards, which gives them the opportunity to develop and broaden a range of skills.
