To check which school place you've been offered, log into the Leeds Council application portal.

You will need your email address and password.

You will also receive an email with the offer.

If you applied for a school place by paper form, you will receive an offer letter in the post which might arrive a few days after March 1.

How can I accept the offer?

The offer should be accepted with the school directly, and contact details can be found using the Council's search tool.

The offer must be accepted by the deadline given in the email or letter otherwise it may be withdrawn and the place given to someone else.

You should accept your offer even if you decide to join a waiting list or appeal s this will not affect either process.

What if my child didn't get the school they wanted?

If your child did not qualify for a place at any of your preferred schools, they will be offered a place at their closest school with available places.

You also have the option to:

- Check which schools still have places - which will be published on offer day

- Join a waiting list for another school

- Make an appeal - but in the meantime, you should accept the school place you have been offered and this will not affect your appeal.

What are the key dates after offer day?

March 1: Offer day

March 15: First cut off for waiting list requests

March 29: Deadline for accepting offers and first cut off for appeal forms

April to August 2021: Places allocated from waiting lists

The Government has just announced a £720million funding package for schools in England, to help children catch up on lost learning due to Covid-19.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said this extra funding for schools in England “will equip teachers with the tools and resources they need to support their pupils, and give children the opportunities they deserve to learn and fulfil their potential.”

However, Mr Williamson said the funding was just the “immediate response”, and that the newly-appointed education recovery commissioner, Sir Kevan Collins, will investigate more extensive measures to allow children to catch up on education.
