Brand new chapter for a storytelling wonderland
Directors of a creative arts play centre in Farsley hope the site's expansion will help more children explore the world of storytelling.
The Rainbow Factory says the extension into a former textile mill is the “beginning of a new chapter” for the venue.

The new area is called the Rainbow Rooms and was unveiled to parents at children at the centre’s Enchanted Christmas Market over the weekend. Now the directors hope the additional 2,500 sq ft of floor space. will allow them to host more school trips
Rainbow Factory executive director Hazel Merlino said: “We hope that with the creation of this new area we can take a step closer to becoming a real social hub for local families.

“We’re very proud of everything the Rainbow Factory has achieved in such a short space of time – in particular making a difference to so many young lives.”
The centre opened in June 2015 and aims to bring children’s books to life through theatre, music and craft - staging events that “inspire, challenge and delight”.
It was set up with the social objective to inspire future generations with a love of reading and consequently help raise literacy levels.
The centre features a yellow brick road, a storybook tree, a creative kitchen where children can make mini masterpieces, a fancy dress area and a Gingerbread Cafe, inspired by the witch’s house in Hansel and Gretel.
