Love is Blind TV star Cat Richards supports adoption charity Adoption Matters
Love is Blind TV star, Cat Richards is supporting leading adoption charity Adoption Matters during National Adoption Week to help raise awareness.
National Adoption Week runs from 21-27 October 2024. The latest data shows there has been a 22 per cent increase in the number of children with a plan for adoption not yet matched with an adoptive family in England in 2023-4, compared to the previous year, meaning there are 780 more children not yet placed with a family, than there are approved adopters waiting to be matched with a child.
With fewer potential adopters coming forward – believed to largely be a result of the cost-of-living crisis - this means that nearly half (47 per cent) of all children face delays of over 18 months to be placed with an adoptive family.
Cat commented:

“National Adoption Week is a cause close to my heart, as I was adopted myself. It's important we shine a light on the incredible work Adoption Matters does in finding loving homes for children. Raising awareness is vital to ensure every child has the opportunity for a secure and loving future”.
Adoption Matters are one of the largest voluntary adoption agencies in the country. Their team based in Leeds covers the whole of Yorkshire and the Humber.
Jamie Bennett (pictured), was placed as a baby by Adoption Matters and is now a Trustee of the charity, he was also supported by Adoption Matters in helping to trace his birth family, so he is very passionate about support for adopted adults.
Cat is hosting a live Q&A on her Instagram channel during the week on Thursday 24 October at 6pm with Jamie. Cat’s Instagram channel can be found at: https://www.instagram.com/catherinerichards__/
