Leeds is a city proudly built around a valley, meaning we are absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to dramatic, panoramic vistas.
Whether you want to stare at the modern, evolving downtown skyline or lose yourself in the rolling green hills of the West Yorkshire countryside, there are endless spots to take in a great view.
We asked Yorkshire Evening Post readers on Facebook to name the single best view in Leeds. Their nominations ranged from hidden woodland gems and historic ruins to dramatic commuter hills.
While we were surprised, many of the responses were clean (not a builder crack joke in sight - one slightly iffy Armley reference for full disclosure, though), we do have to acknowledge those readers whose answer was "in the rear-view mirror as you leave."
Have at it amongst yourselves if you disagree (we certainly do).
But for the rest of our readers, their choices ranged from the urban sprawl to the green spaces that populate our city.
Here’s your 13 best views in Leeds - do you agree with your fellow neighbours that they are exceptional?

7. Middleton Park Clearings, Middleton
Peter Blackburn suggested heading south to look for the open spaces in South Leeds' massive historic woodland, recommending the "Middleton park clearings" for a quiet, scenic outlook.

8. M621 Descent, Gildersome
For commuters, the sweeping high-angle view of the city centre skyline opening up in front of you is a legendary sight. Mike Grossbard nominated the view "from the top of the M621 coming down from Gildersome." | Leeds Libraries, www.leodis.net

9. Scott Hall Road, Sheepscar
If you are heading into Leeds from the north, the long downhill approach towards the city centre offers a great urban view. Phil Costello suggested the view "coming down Scott hall Road."

10. Ilkley Moor
For endless rolling heather and breathtaking valleys on the edge of the Leeds boundary, Stephanie Hamblin put forward "Ilkley Moor" as one of her top guesses for the finest views around.

11. Elland Road, Beeston
For Leeds United fans, the finest view in Leeds is strictly reserved for matchdays. Stephen Hodgson nominated "The church, Elland Road🤍💛💙" while Michael Jones simply chose "Elland Road."
