‘Work we have truly loved’: Beloved Leeds craft gallery to close its doors before Christmas
Opening hours at the gallery will remain the same until its Christmas closure
A popular gallery showcasing contemporary craftwork from local designers has announced it will be closing down.
Craft Leeds has been displaying the skills of Leeds’ artistic community for over 44 years, featuring handmade jewellery, ceramics, glasswork, and much more at its hub on the Headrow.
It will officially close on Wednesday, December 23.

In a statement published on Instagram, the Craft Leeds team expressed their gratitude to the community for the years of support.
They said: “Our Board of Trustee Directors have sadly made the hard decision to close the business.
“Craft Leeds has enjoyed many great achievements, exhibitions, meet-the-makers sessions and artist-led workshops, as well as prestigious awards given and received.
“None of this would have been possible without our wonderful loyal customers, valued partners, incredible staff, and of course, our talented makers.”
The business says that in the meantime it will remain committed to its network of over 250 craftspeople, and will be providing free shipping on all items online ahead of the festive period.
Craft Leeds customers conveyed their sympathy in the comments for a gallery close to their hearts.
One user said: “My favourite place to go when I was a student at Jacob Kramer, and I was so thrilled to have you stock my work years later.”
Another added: “A treasure trove and true beacon of inspiration. My heart is heavy.”
