Local heritage site Crank Mill, a Grade II listed building built in 1790, was the country’s first steam-powered woollen mill. It was a ‘scribbling mill’, where wool was combed and prepared for spinning.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at White Rose Shopping Centre, said: “We’re excited to welcome The Scribbling Mill Wetherspoon pub to The Village at White Rose. It will be a great addition to our existing mix of retail, restaurants, and leisure, and we’re sure our visitors will enjoy the new venue.”

Wetherspoon spokesperson Eddie Gershon added: “We are set to start development work on the site on 8th August, and the new pub will create more than 50 jobs for the local community. Wetherspoon has enjoyed great success with its pubs in the region and we are confident The Scribbling Mill will be a great addition to White Rose Shopping Centre.”

White Rose boasts more than 100 shops and restaurants including Next, River Island, ProCook, and more, plus an 11-screen Cineworld with IMAX and ScreenX. With more than 5,000 free parking spaces and long opening hours.
