Rail passengers face 'significant disruption' after landslip closes line

Rail passengers are being warned of 'significant disruption' today following a landslip on the line between Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.

The line will be closed between Sowerby Bridge and Bradford Interchange for repairs.

Train operator Northern said services between Blackpool North/Manchester Victoria and Leeds/York would be affected.

It is advising passengers to check before they set out.

Services from Blackpool North to York will divert via Brighouse and Dewsbury and will not call at Halifax, Bradford Interchange or New Pudsey.

Services from Manchester Victoria to Leeds will also run via Brighouse and Dewsbury and will not call at Halifax, Bradford Interchange or New Pudsey.

There will also be slight delays on services from Huddersfield to Leeds. Meanwhile customers in Bradford are advised to travel to Leeds from Bradford Forster Square.

A number of rail replacement coaches will run between Hebden Bridge and Bradford.

Northern said the frequency of services may be reduced on some routes following the morning peak. They are advising customers to check National Rail Enquiries and journeycheck.com/northern
