New routes to Barcelona for Spain's biggest budget airline

Jet2 and Monarch already fly to the city from Leeds, but Vueling’s new Monday and Friday service add more options for weekend or mid-week breaks.

Tony Hallwood, Leeds Bradford Airport’s aviation development director said he expected the airline to become a “firm favourite” with passengers.

He added: “We are delighted to see Vueling commence services from Leeds Bradford serving Yorkshire passengers but also creating inbound tourism opportunities to the cities of Leeds, York and Harrogate.”

Vueling’s Gabriel Schmilovich said the service reinforced its “growing presence” in the British market.

He said: “Vueling is succeeding in challenging the concepts of low cost carriers by offering a superior product and exceptional services with low fares and a wide range of services, fit for holidaymakers and business passengers. We now look forward to working with Leeds Bradford to deliver a growth in our Spanish services over the next 12 months.”
