North Studio, just off Street Lane in Roundhay, offers class-based workouts, holistic therapies, massage treatments and gym equipment.

It's the creation of fitness fanatic Rachel Woolford, an economics graduate from Leeds who left her job in finance to pursue her love for fitness.

The whole studio has been carefully designed with social distancing measures in mind, with perspex screens at reception, a one-way system and sanitising stations.

All equipment is kept at least 1.5 metres apart and 'stay in your zone' stickers are in place to remind customers to stick to social distancing.

An on-site cafe with an outdoor seating area will serve coffee from Leeds roasters North Star Coffee and made-to-order smoothies. It's available to both studio guests and walk-in customers.

North Studio offers flexible pricing plans which allows guests to choose how often they’d like to attend, rather than being tied to a fixed monthly membership fee

Originally scheduled to open the same week that lockdown began, owner Rachel was forced to push back to the launch and redesign the studio with social distancing measures in mind.

Rachel said: "The path to North Studio may have been longer and bumpier than I had originally anticipated, however, I couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result.

"2020 threw us a major curve ball, but we turned it into a positive and have created what I believe to be the future of fitness and wellbeing in the north.

"I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some incredible places, but my heart has always been in Yorkshire and I wouldn’t want to do this anywhere else.
