Leeds agency raises over £12k for Candlelighters

Leeds-based staffing agency PJ Staffing has helped raise an impressive £12,656.59 for children’s cancer charity Candlelighters through a combination of last year’s Pink It Up Weekender and the recent Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign.
Founder Paul McCallum is now calling on more businesses, venues and organisations across Leeds, York and Harrogate to get involved as the Pink It Up Weekender returns from June 1-7 2026, promising to be bigger, brighter and even more impactful.
The total fundraising figure, confirmed by Candlelighters, reflects months of community-led efforts, staff fundraising, business partnerships and matched donations through the Big Give campaign, all in support of families affected by childhood cancer across Yorkshire.
Paul McCallum, Founder of PJ Staffing, said: “We are incredibly proud to be a part of supporting Candlelighters, along with our wider community.
"Every pound we raise makes a real difference to families facing the toughest of times when their children have cancer.
"The success of last year’s Pink It Up Weekender showed just how powerful it can be when local businesses, venues and individuals come together for a cause that truly matters.
"Seeing Leeds turn pink was not only visually striking, it also created real awareness and meaningful support for Candlelighters.”
The Pink It Up Weekender encourages businesses and venues to turn their external lights pink, host fundraising events, offer themed promotions and engage customers in raising vital funds and awareness for children’s cancer services in Yorkshire.
The 2026 event will run from June 1-7, giving businesses a full week to take part, whether that means decorating venues, hosting pink-themed events, or simply using their platform to highlight the charity’s work.
Paul added: “We would love to see even more venues, offices, bars, shops and organisations across Leeds, York and Harrogate getting involved this year.
"You do not have to be a big business to make a big impact. Turning pink, sharing the message and fundraising in any way you can helps Candlelighters continue their incredible work.”
Candlelighters provides emotional, practical and financial support to children with cancer and their families across Yorkshire, funding vital services that go far beyond NHS provision.
