An Armley town street shop owner has thanked his customers - after announcing he has sold the shop after more than 20 years of business.

Mustafa Jamali, 52, said he had 'loved every minute' of owning and running Jamali's on the high street.

Mustafa has spent the last four years commuting from Manchester every day to run the electrical supply shop, having previously lived in Bradford.

However, he has now made the difficult decision to part with his beloved shop.

He said: "All the customers were just brilliant, young and old.

"I was trading in Armley for just over 20 years.

"I have been commuting for the past four years.

"I sold up as I travelled all the way from Manchester daily and was getting tired of the commute."

Mustafa now hopes to set up a similar shop nearer to home.

He said he will miss all of his Leeds customers.

Mustafa added: "I had a fantastic time in Armley.

"I want to just say how much I will miss them and miss being there.

"I loved every minute of it, I was fortunate to have met such lovely people."

The shop is expected to remain reopen under a new name.

Armley residents took to social media to praise Mustafa's hard work.

One said: "Gutted about this, one of the best independent businesses on townstreet!"

Another added: "Sad for us, as you are such a lovely, helpful person.

"I hope the shop will carry on your good work."
