The vintage heavyweight is expanding into a massive, two-floor space in the heart of the city centre, taking over the former Levi’s unit, located at the entrance of Thornton Arcade.
Glass Onion’s journey is a true Yorkshire success story; it began in 2005 when founder John Hickling started selling vintage clothing out of his grandma’s coal shed in Barnsley.
Fast forward to today, and the brand has become a dominant force in sustainable fashion.
Their first retail store opened in Sheffield in 2019, where their commitment to quality earned them ‘Best Indie Retailer’ and ‘Best Vintage Retailer’ at the Exposed Magazine Awards for three consecutive years.
They have since expanded further with a popular destination store in Nottingham on Wheeler Gate, cementing their status as the go-to for curated second-hand style.
A core part of their mission is their ‘Remade’ line - upcycling damaged vintage garments into brand-new pieces at their Barnsley factory, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Take a look inside the store and head along to take a look at the incredible range - Glass Onion opens its doors from 10am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday, providing plenty of opportunity for city-centre shoppers to explore the two floors of vintage gems.
For those looking for a Sunday thrifting session, the store operates on slightly shorter hours from 11am to 5pm.
