On 13 December 2025 a Leeds business celebrated one year since Chai Shai King was officially formed and registered with Registrar of Companies in England and Wales.

In just half a year, it has become a firm local favourite in Leeds with strong community support and repeat customers.

Founder and owner Deb said: "Our butter chicken wrap has become our signature bestseller, our naan-based pizzas have gained popularity both online and in-store, and our Desi nashta continues to resonate with the South Asian diaspora.

"We currently hold a 5-star food and hygiene rating, a 4.9 Google rating, and have installed a community-funded defibrillator on site.

"Building on this momentum, we are now preparing to open oursecond, larger store in Calcutta, India, my hometown and the former capital of the British Raj.

"The store will feature a British-themed interior, including a red telephone booth selfie zone, while staying true to our core values and offerings.

"The opening is planned for Durga Puja 2026, a UNESCO-recognised festival that draws large numbers of international visitors."

Deb added: "From a community-led café in Leeds to an internationally expanding brand rooted in heritage and identity, this milestone feels like a meaningful next chapter.

"My business partner, Ashmita Singh, and I are excited to be embarking on our next venture."
