To anyone that has driven in or out of Leeds city centre in recent years it is already iconic.

Now the team behind The Car Wash is looking to stake a claim to be the best in the business throughout the whole of the UK, as they emerge from lockdown to get back to what they do best.

The business, located amidst the ring roads on North Street and instantly recognisable thanks to its multi-coloured sign, had been building up an excellent reputation for service for almost five years before they were forced to close down as a result of the pandemic.

Rather than be deflated however, the team decided to use the time to their advantage, and have carried out a huge amount of work to make the site more accessible – and to make a visit to the car wash something to truly remember.

Already a favourite of local footballers and motoring enthusiasts, the Car Wash crew are passionate about vehicles – and that means every wash is done by hand. No rollers, no brushes – and crucially that means no scratches on your pride and joy, just a beautiful finish.

Unsurprisingly getting a fine finish can take a little longer than a machine wash – and so as well as upgrading the landscape, the team have installed two new waiting rooms, complete with snack machines, big screen TVs and even video games, to keep customers entertained while they wait.

Best of all, their already eye-catching sign is getting an upgrade – and now it will shine out to brighten up the area and let everyone know they are open for business again.

It’s not just the surface they’ve spruced up though, they have re-tarmaced the site to remove any potholes, and improved the drainage systems to keep everything squeaky clean, meaning every service, from a simple wash to a luxury wax finish, will be done in the best environment possible.

While the lockdown rules may once again change their plans, owners of The Car Wash are currently hoping to re-open on April 12.

And while it might be a difficult category for anyone to judge, it sounds like visitors are likely to come away thinking they’ve just been to the UK’s best car wash.
