Leeds Indian restaurant Mumtaz has doubled curry giveaway to 2,000 free meals
A popular Indian restaurant in Leeds has doubled its curry giveaway.
Mumtaz has now cooked up a whopping 2,000 chicken and vegetable biryanis and will give them away for free tonight, before the restaurant chain reopens this weekend.
Updating customers through an Instagram post, co-owner Asad Arif said: "We said 1,000 BUT now we’ve prepared 2,000! chicken and veg biryanis. Yes 2000....im gna be skint after this!"

Customers can collect their free curry between 6pm and 9pm tonight, with a one-way collection system in place inside the restaurant.
The restaurant has asked people to maintain social distancing and only take what is needed, giving everyone the chance to grab a free curry.
An optional donation bucket will be left next to the food collection, with all proceeds going towards a local initiative.
Asad added: "You do NOT have to give anything!!! But we figured it is a good way to raise money for a local initiative. When we were open we used to give £1 a table to charity and would raise well about £1,500 a month. So hoping to keep this good deed going!"
Mumtaz will reopen for dine-in customers on Saturday when lockdown measures are eased.
