Doughnut and coffee chain Tim Hortons opening new store at former Pizza Hut in Birstall
The fast-food chain is going up against Starbucks, Costa and Krispy Kreme who already have stores in the retail park.
The application to Kirklees Council shows Tim Hortons wants to make minor alterations to the former Pizza Hut building, including recladding.

The planning application states: "The restaurant will operate in a similar way to existing coffee shops and restaurants with drive-thru facilities, although the nature of the Tim Hortons offer means that the business and usage is not directly comparable to that of any of the existing UK coffee shop or restaurant operators.
"This is because the offer is more varied, with both eat-in and drive-thru customers visiting for a meal or a snack at any time of the day.
"The nature of the Tim Hortons offer is one that is primarily aimed at daytime and evening trade, with more limited use of the existing units during the breakfast period."

A Kirklees Council Spokesperson said: “We have received a planning application and it will be considered as part of the usual planning process.”
