Amber Cars expands Leeds operation after taking over another local taxi firm

Amber Cars has boosted its offering across Leeds after taking over a small firm from the south of the city.

Amber, the city's largest taxi and private hire vehicle operator, has acquired Gee Gee Cars, based in Beeston.

The move will see Amber Cars operate an additional 50 licensed vehicles in south Leeds, as well as boosting bookings by 5000 a week.

It follows Amber's acquisition of Premier Cars, based in Moortown, earlier this year.

The company now has more than 1,250 drivers operating across West Yorkshire.

Chris Neary, Amber Cars regional director, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Gee Gee Cars to the Amber Cars stable.

"Not only will the residents of Leeds and the surrounding areas benefit from increased capacity and efficiencies, but Gee Gee Cars passengers will now be able to experience Amber Cars market-leading technology and service standards.

Amber Cars has a booking app and the option of paying by either cash or card is available on all bookings.

Customers can still call up to book if they prefer.

Amber Cars, part of the Veezu Group, uses specialist cleaning regimes and has trialled in-vehicle protective screens.

More than 180,000 face coverings have been made available to drivers since July, free of charge.
