While new openings pop up all over Leeds, the city has already lost a number of well-known and beloved restaurants, bars and pubs and cafes.
Here are 8 restaurants, pubs and bars we’ve sadly lost for good in 2024 so far - with two more set to close in the coming months.
7. Pizza Loco on Roundhay Road
Pizza Loco, based on Oakwood’s high street on Roundhay Road, closed its doors permanently at the end of January. The brand was founded in 2014 by pizza chef Ollie Reynolds and its Oakwood restaurant first opened in 2019. It comes just five months after Pizza Loco took over kitchen residency inside Meanwood Tavern alongside running the Oakwood site. 8. Banyan on Brook Street
And just outside of Leeds, Banyan in Ilkley closed permanently in January 2024. Its owner, Arc Inspirations, still operate bars under the Banyan branding in Leeds city centre, Roundhay and Harrogate. | Lorne Campbell Photo: Lorne Campbell

9. Manjit's Kitchen on Kirkstall Road
Manjit's Kitchen on Kirkstall Road has announced it's plans to close at the end of April. The restaurant's owner and founder, Manjit Kaur, announced at the start of March that it would be closing its restaurant on Kirkstall Road due to rising costs - despite being “busier than ever”. | James Hardisty Photo: James Hardisty

10. Papa John's on The Becketts
The American pizza chain, which operates four restaurants in Leeds, said earlier this year that it planned to shut a number of "underperforming" restaurants. In March it revealed that a total of 43 restaurants will close by mid-May following a consultation process - including its restaurant in Meanwood. | Google Photo: Google
