There is excitement among Emmerdale fans as Adam Thomas has hinted at his return to the Dales on social media.

The Mancunian actor, who played Adam Barton in the Yorkshire soap, dropped a big hint on Twitter - and fans are ecstatic.

Thomas left the soap in 2018 in a dramatic exit.

His character confessed to the the murder of Emma Barton, despite his mum Moira admitting to killing her.

On his way to court to be sentenced, he broke free from the prison van and escaped to France, after saying an emotional goodbye to his wife Victoria Sugden.

Later in the soap, it was revealed that he had moved to Budapest.

Emmerdale fans are hoping to see the return of the character after Thomas tweeted: "Can't remember the last time I picked up a script... Time to get back."

One fan tweeted: "BETTER BE AN EMMERDALE SCRIPT"

Another added: "EMMERDALE SCRIPT? Adam Barton return on the cards? So looking forward to seeing what you do next."

Bhasker Patel, who plays Rishi Sharma in the soap, replied: "Coming Dales? By any chance! That laughter is well missed in Yorkshire! Oh and your Hugs! Out of this world!"

Adam Thomas is the twin brother of Love Island star Scott and the younger brother of former Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas.

He appeared on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2016 and since leaving Emmerdale has starred in adventure reality show Don't Rock The Boat and an ITV documentary series with his brothers.
