From famous features to lesser-known gems, Leeds is no stranger to film crews and cameras. Yorkshire's largest city has featured in a number of major productions and the screen industry has grown in recent years. Here are 12 films and TV shows filmed in our city, including some which might surprise you:
7. Emmerdale, 1972-present
One of Leeds' greatest TV exports, the long-running soap set in the fictional Yorkshire village of Emmerdale is filmed between the ITV Studios in Kirkstall Road and a purpose-built set in Harewood. Some filming takes place in Leeds and Otley.
8. Sex, Drugs & Murder: Life in the Red Light Zone
The BBC Three documentary centres around sex workers working in the managed zone in Holbeck. It was criticised by the English Collection of Prostitutes for only showing 'darker' areas of the industry such as drug addiction.
9. Take Us Home: Leeds United, 2019-2020
The Amazon Prime documentary has followed the Whites over two seasons, covering their promotion to top-flight football. It features some famous Leeds figures including Josh Warrington and includes some stunning aerial shots of the city
10. The Hunter’s Prayer, 2017
This high-octane Hollywood thriller follows an assassin as he helps a young woman avenge the death of her family. 11. German detective drama series, TBC
In October, film crews were spotted at Kirkstall Road's Cardigan Arms pub. German film and TV company UFA Fiction selected the historical pub for an upcoming Nordic noir-style detective drama series.
12. Peaky Blinders, 2013-present
Filming for the hit BBC period crime drama Peaky Blinders has taken place at several Leeds locations, including Leeds Town Hall, City Varieties and Studio 81 on Kirkstall Road
